I was at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC, doing my Publishing 101
seminar. It was a full house (50 people signed up and 50 people attended - what
are the odds?) which mean a lot of energy and writers eager to learn.
As
always, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. No matter how many times I do this
seminar, I always gain new insight through the questions asked by attendees.
While I can’t begin to answer every question, often it gives me insight as to
the direction and interests of writers today. They often ask about things I
haven’t even considered. That makes me want to go find the answers. And I learn
even more.
They
say to truly learn something, you need to teach it.
Now
I am really excited to finish up my publishing and promoting book! Does anyone else get this excited when you teach someone else?

I love old houses and barns. Michigan, where I grew up, has lots of these structures dotting the countryside. Yeah, it does look haunted,

I think we learn so much by teaching others. And I really love that house. It looks like some of the dangerous places I explored as a kid.
Great house. In a previous life I did a lot of IT user support. I agree absolutely that I came away doing more after helping someone else through their learning.
You are so right. I haven't taught any writing classes but I have been part of some panels and the questions are so great, they really inspire me to learn more.

I used to be an Administrative Trainer in my previous job, and the look on a students face when you show them something they can really make use of....lets just say its rewarding!
What fun! I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of teaching BEFORE it happens. I get nervous and fear no one will care, and what do I know anyway? But once I'm there, it's awesome.
I teach NA I students and was inspired to write a poem entitled "Why I Teach" because of my love for teaching. I wouldn't mind doing it full-time one day... Your house definitely looks haunted. Wonder if anyone knows its history. That's always interesting to find out...
Yikes on the house! And I'm like you - I love giving seminars. It always inspires and excites me (and hopefully others, too).
Yeah, I like teaching, and I'm pretty good at it. I taught a creative writing class at my kids' school last year, and I should be doing it again this year.

It looks like an old mill or somthing. Teaching is rewarding. It must be one of the most rewarding, but hardest, professions.

I tutor kids sometimes and I love sharing knowledge with them. Eager students are awesome. :)
And yeah, i could see myself standing out in a hurricane or tornado just to avoid going in that place.
Yes I love that aspect to teaching, but I'd never take a job as a teacher or lecturer. Maybe one day when I have credibility as an author, I'll do writing seminars, because getting people to write is one of my passions.

That photo of the day is great. I've always been fascinated by old houses. I like to imagine what they were like in their early days and who the families were that lived in them.
