"It's not pining, it's passed on. This parrot is no more! It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet its maker. This is a late parrot. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. If you hadn't nailed it to the perch it would be pushing up the daisies. It's rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-parrot."

* FAMILY UPDATE *
I’m still dealing with my mom’s situation. She’s out of the hospital and in a rehabilitation facility now and I’m taking care of all her bills and such. Fortunately, she finally decided she couldn’t go home and has selected a nice studio apartment at an assisted living facility. I’ll be making at least one more trip back to Oregon soon…
* PHOTO OF THE DAY *
I recently attended the wedding of my nephew, and this was the Groom's Cake! Looks good, doesn't it?

Good to know your mother made what I consider the right choice.
And that cake looks AWESOME.
Loved your post. so pleased that your mother is better and have made her choice. Looking at that cake and cutting doen on cakes and the likes was mouth watering,

That's an awesome Groom's cake! I haven't seen one like that before. Creative and different!
I hope things are going well with you and your mom.

LOVE that cake! (I've never heard of a groom's cake before - neat idea!)
Glad your mom has found a place!
Are those Hostess cakes? That's a rawther clever take on a groom's cake!
I once went to a wedding where Twinkies were served with the cake, because the groom gave the bride a dozen Twinkies on their first date instead of roses.
Thanks everyone - I'm so relieved knowing mom will be safe.
And the groom did not share his cake.
Kitten, that's absolutely adorable - how romantic!
What a cute idea for the groom's cake! I love it.
So glad your mom's doing better. I hope she continues to improve.

Thanks for the mention! -- And not for berating me for the alliteration altercation I created on my Thursday post.
Interesting cake concept.
Good to hear that your mother is getting settled in. Aging entails making so many adjustments to what we have previously been capable of doing, and half the battle is the acceptance of our situation. It's good that your mother will have assistance when she needs it.

Awesome links. Fabulous picture. I'm glad your mom is doing better. :)
Lee, that was key - getting her to realize she needs assistance.
Interesting looking grooms cake. Thanks for sharing the picture.
Glad to hear your mom is doing better.
It's pining for the fjords!
"It's only up there because you've nailed it to the perch!"
*snort* I LOVE that sketch. And I loved that the fossils they found a couple years ago in Norway were cheekily given the name 'Norwegian Blue' (parrots in Norway--HA!)
That grooms cake is excellent!
Wow, that cake looks fab! Thanks for the round-up.
Diane -
"This is an ex-parrot." Uh, yah. heh heh
Thanks for all the great links.
And, I'm starving! Sadly, the "groomscake" looks delicious.
Glad your mom is doing better. =D
Hart, that's funny!
Thanks for the links, I plan to check them out.
I hope your mother recovers quickly and enjoys moving to her new home.
And, what a wonderful groom’s cake – the photo made me laugh out loud!
Wow - I've seen some fancy wedding cakes in my day, but THIS one 'takes the cake' - lol.
Love the cake!
It was hard for your mother to make that choice. It was admitting life had changed for her and she was no longer the strong person she wanted to be.
But wisdom is a more sure, more precious strength than physical health. Your mother was wise.
My prayers are with you as you help her in these difficult times. Roland
Marvin, it's pretty cool, isn't it?
Roland, thank you so much for your kind words.
