It’s time for another edition of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group, founded by Ninja Captain, Alex J. Cavanaugh.
The question for today: Have you "played" with AI to write those nasty synopses, or do you refuse to go that route? How do you feel about AI's impact on creative writing?
I haven’t had time and don’t have a synopsis that needs work right now. For that, I would be willing to try AI.
I think it will be a long, long time before AI is as creative as a human. It has no feelings, so there is a lot it can’t convey. I think we are also seeing the negative impact of it and it will only get worse.
The next #IWSGPit will be in March 27, 2024, 10:00 am - 8:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
Dancing Lemur Press signed 5 authors from previous years!

Yesterday, the boxed set of In Darkness released in both print and eBook!
In Darkness
Print ISBN 9798988625148 $17.95
eBook ISBN 9798988625155 $8.99
Romance/Paranormal, Fantasy / Paranormal, Fantasy / Romance, Romance-Science Fiction
Souls shrouded in darkness…
A wary vampire relying on the assistance of a young woman to guide his clan to an ancient fortress. A talking shark with no knowledge of his earlier life who befriends a girl with issues of her own. A werewolf trapped by his secret smitten with a young woman battling trust issues of her own. And an alien devoid of all emotions pledged to a Terran woman determined to keep her own feelings intact.
These souls must discover the power of love if they hope to escape the darkness surrounding them…
Find In Darkness here: Amazon / iTunes / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / Gardners / Goodreads
I dedicated it to my cousin Patti, who purchased and loved all four novellas and been my biggest fan. Since paranormal romance that ISN’T R-rated or erotica doesn’t sell as well, I appreciate her support. May I find more readers like her.
Have you tried using AI or plan to pitch during #IWSGPit?

Hey! Fantastic news about your boxed set of Darkness! Re: AI. I use Grammarly and that's considered AI. Right now, I'm working on a synopsis and have to admit...I'm curious what it would come up with.
Congratulations on your boxed set release! That's great that your cousin Patti has been so supportive.
Congrats on your boxed set! Yes, I would use Al as a tool to write a synopsis and use it at my job all the time.
When it comes time to write the synopsis, I trust you can do it without the robot lurking in your keyboard. What sense of pride in the accomplishment can one otherwise feel? A.I. has no place in creative fields, whether it be art, writing, or music. Ugh. Grammarly, maybe, being one exception as it's for editing an already completed body of work but Grammarly isn't always right. Not even close.
Congrats on releasing the boxset! It's such a satisfying feeling getting a series wrapped up.
Yvonne, even Spell Check is wrong sometimes.
Thank you, everyone!
Congrats on the box set release!
Congrats on the boxset.
I haven't done anything the AI in that realm. Maybe when I have a need, I'll try it out.
PS: My blog feed has changed.
Congrats on the release! I haven't taken time to play around in AI at all yet. Just not interested right now. @samanthabwriter from

Congrats on your latest release!
Sadly, I think the AI issue is only going to get worse as well
Congrats on the series release. Woot. Woot.
Nice-looking boxes set! As for the AI writing the synopsis I think at best it could give you a draft to work over very hard. Given what import stuff blurbs and such are, I won’t trust them to a machine.
Congrats on your box set. I don't think Al is designed to replace creative writing nor do I think it will ever develop into that. It's a tool for other types of writing.
Love the cover of your boxed collection.
As a reader, I enjoy romance in all its sub-genres. Paranormal romance is definitely one of them.
Grats on your release! That's awesome!
I do my best to avoid AI, Diane. Well, that's not true. I've asked bing some silly questions to mess with it. For example, "Are people getting stupider?" It appropriately educated me on the question's unfair assumptions, etc. I was impressed.
Hope you're well.
You're the last person to comment before I became a "millionaire." WOOHOO! Thanks for helping me getting there.
Congrats on your box set release. I think AI has been great for many fields, such a medicine. I don't plan to ever use it for writing a novel or even a synopsis or blurb, though. Those things are part of the human experience.
I agree human emotion, inspiration, and perspective will always be ahead of AI so I don't really feel its a threat, but can be helpful as an assistant.
Let us know how AI does on your synopsis! Another kudos on your book.
It's so important to have those great fans. I have a sister and daughter who are my biggest supporters. Congrats on your latest release.
AI has no feelings? I like that.
Rebecca, it could be a starting point at least. Although I usually don't struggle with the synopsis.
Olga, thank you - I just let my illustrator have at it.
Robyn, a million visitors? Well done!
Thank you, everyone.
I'm not sure I agree with you. AI was there in the background before covid, and now its everywhere. It's growth almost seems exponential.
I wonder what it will be like next year or the year after that and how it change our lives.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Congrats on your box-set release. I may buy the print one for my dad. He struggles with ebooks. I had a creepy experience with A.I. but it was for a creative writing application. I will not do that again. It may be useful in research, though.
I do occasionally enjoy paranormal romance, but it depends on which creatures. Well, that and the writing. The writing is key.
I've been following AI from the start--mainly AI used for art, but also text based AI--and I think you might get a shock how fast it is improving. Soon you won't be able to distinguish an AI generated piece from a regular writer. Scary, but true.
Urban fantasy is a harder sell these days, too, but there are still some readers out there. Congratulations on the release of the novella collection!
Congratulations on the release! Wow, you wrote those fast (it seems like that, anyway)
Congrats on the box set!
I haven't tried anything with AI yet either. There's other stuff that is a higher priority for me right now.
Congratulations on the release of your boxed set! You have always been an inspiration to me with your consistency in both writing and publishing. I'm not excited about AI but I would definitely try it for blurb writing. But as you say, it's lacking in the human emotional effect that good writing conveys.
I suspect as AI improves, most authors will use it for something. I'm strange in that i love editing, so I don't mind the editing involved in AI. It's knowing what to put in that makes the difference.
Congrats on In Darkness!
Congratulations on your new book!
I've watched too many 80s sci-fi films to be comfortable with AI. It starts small and insignificant and ends up with humans being forced to leave the planet... or something like that!
Congrats on the box set.
It is scary to think that someday AI will have emotions like a human. That is science fiction now, but could it be true life in the future?? Yikes! Thrilled for you to release your series! Congratulations!
Congratulations, Diane! That looks wonderful.
I love that you turned In Darkness into a boxed set! And I'm still reeling that your rosemary is 10 ft tall.
Hi Diane - belated (apologies) ... congratulations on your box set and signing 5 authors from previous years via the IWSG Twitter Pitch ... this is a really supportive group of blogging friends - we can count ourselves very fortunate.
AI - I'm sure we're all using it already without realising ... but as you say it doesn't have emotions, or feelings, or understanding - so I sincerely hope the human touch will still be with us for a long time. Cheers Hilary
Yay, Patti. We need our support group for sure.
Congrats! Wishing you all the best! :)
