A to Z Challenge - Goals

For the A to Z Challenge, my topic is leadership and goal-setting. I am posting short excerpts from my book, Overcoming Obstacles with SPUNK! The Keys to Leadership and Goal-Setting, along with an inspiring photo. Enjoy and dream big!

Goals

Goals are empowering. They give us the strength to persevere even through the most difficult situations. Our lives are enriched when we live with a purpose!

Possessing a goal provides a person with something for which to strive. He has a target and destiny awaiting his arrival. Goals give our lives meaning and a reason to continue moving forward. The man with something to live for lives longer. Therefore, we need to set goals, if only to live a long and productive life.

I have goals, but my deadlines keep getting pushed back. I'd like to be on one of those balloons!

I love setting goals! I set goals for everything.

Agreed. It doesn't matter if those goals change and adapt - but to keep moving forward, we need to have them :)

I have a love/hate relationship with goals. I love to set them but I hate it when I can't accomplish them.

I try to get this across to my students all the time. We all need them.

...fulfilling our goals is how our work ends up on store shelves.

Great choice ;)

Yvonne, my deadline had been moved so many times I might as well make it for five years from now.

Elliot, that is true.

Woo Hoo, I'm 600. Surely that's somebody's goal.

Agreed. I need goals even if something happens that slightly changes them.

It took me a long time to realize the importance of having specific goals and planning to achieve them. That was not something that was stressed as I was growing up and I didn't learn it in school.

Farawayeye, it was mine. Thank you.

Maryann, and that's something kids should be taught in school.

Goals are also what you get
when you put the puck in the hockey net. ~ Bear

Goals are targets at which to aim. Now that I'm retired, I'm a lot more flexible with my goals. Perhaps I should go back to writing them out, and checking them often.

Well, maybe.

I am constantly checking my goals against my purpose to make sure that I'm not caught up in trying to do something which doesn't really enrich the planet.
This is a great G post!

Great reminder that I need to set myself some goals! I have all sorts of things I need to do, but I need to write them down and focus!

Love the balloons. I have plenty of goals and now, I need to go find the discipline and dead lines to achieve them. Dah-dum-dum.

I don't think we'd get anywhere without goals.
