TV Review

V
Yes, the series is back, updated and current.
Mixed feelings about this one. Not a lot of character development going on in the story. (Guess Battlestar jaded me - I want my character development now!) The story moved VERY quickly though. Guess they figure everyone knows the story, so why bother with suspense. Maybe they're also hoping if it moves fast enough, people won't notice that the story's not that good, either. And it sufferes from the fact we've seen it all before, and not just the orginial series. (Did "Independence Day" come to anyone else's mind when watching the ships position themselves over the cities?)
I will watch again next week, but it'll have to show improvement. Just the fact there's two former Firefly cast members on the show won't hold my attention forever!

Revisions to the cover of Book V! I guess initial review copies were too dark, so adjustments were made...

I like it!

Hey, I LIKE the new cover!

I totally agree with you on "V." I had higher hopes for it - and although it DID move quickly...I don't know if I want in for the long haul to watch all the young people and so many others being sucked in to the Visitors' treachery. (yawn...)

Thanks for the Friday links, Diane!

Great cover.

I missed the first episode of V...my husband and I had meant to watch it. Darn. We've set up TiVo for the others. I hate to hear about the lack of rounded characters! That'll lose me...

The cover looks great! I like the changes.

I agree with you on V, but then I just watched all of the original again a week ago and part of the originals charm was it's 80's campiness and the fact that back then all the technology that they used was not mainstream. So far the only thing I like about the new one is the twist that visitor's were already here before the ships arrived. We'll see how it plays out.

Like the cover!

I didn't watch the new V. I wasn't all that enamored with the original and couldn't see why they'd remake it.

You're cutting it close with the two signings only an hour apart! Good luck and happy sales.

Karen, if they don't have them, my books can be ordered.

Helen, I AM cutting it close, especially if there's heavy traffic in the tunnel that day! If I boogie out the door right at 2pm, I should still arrive at the second store with time to spare.

Have fun at your events!

I've signed at the Waldenbooks in Greenbrier Mall and it's a fabulous place. The staff are so upbeat and welcoming. You'll have a great time there!

That's great, Jai! I've known Trish and her husband (who always comes by to see me when I'm there) for several years. I'm glad she got that store when Lynnhaven's closed.

The revised cover looks good! It must be great for an author to have a pro graphics artist right there under the same roof. :)

hmmm ... Firefly cast members, eh? That's almost enough to get me interested in this new "V" ... almost, but for now I think I'll stick to my beloved Firefly DVD set.
