Every Opportunity Hides a Nugget!

Just returned from a speaking engagement and two day road trip. Every time I venture out, I expect great things and am rarely disappointed!

Attendance at the event was incredible and it was all done first class. The hosts also had a wonderful gift for me, a bag of goodies, and fed me quite well - even catered to my weird 'vegan' lifestyle. I was the wrap-up speaker, so really had to call upon my spunky, redheaded attitude to send the women out the door fired up and ready to tackle the world!

In addition to networking - everyone picked up a bookmark, business card or brochure from my table - I pre-sold books and built on my mailing list. I think the greatest nugget came from the other keynote speaker, Lifestyle Realist Andy Core. He and I had several opportunities to speak and he gave me numerous valuable tips! (We also discussed our Arkansas experiences, as he lives in Fayetteville, AR and I used to live in N. Little Rock, AR.) Considering his success, I was also quite impressed with his down to earth attitude - if I'd met him on the street, I would've had no idea he was a top notch speaker. (Visit Andy at Andy Core )

This weekend was a big success, but even dud events hold opportunities, and I approach every one with an attitude of expectation! Do you?

Nice going Diane! So many authors go nowhere cuz they don't get out and network and are fearful of speaking and doing the work needed - props to you!

Thank you, Marvin!

And I wish more had seen this post so they realize the true impact one appearance can make on their careers....

You have such a great "go get 'em" attitude! I love it. Such an inspiration.

You never know what you can get out of an event that might seem to have not gone well. At times, networking can lead you to greener pastures.

Every event is an adventure. Some may be more exciting than others, even more financially rewarding perhaps, but we can make each one beneficial.

Meeting people widens our network, means more people know our names and widens our experiences that in turn can help us.

You're a girl after my own heart, Diane. So many people don't expect good things and/or don't recognize good things when they come right up and sit in their laps! (-:
