Um...yeah...could use the cool of those icicles every day here in the tropics of Mexico. And I had no idea there were that many awards.

I've not heard of most of those.
Cool photo!

That's quite the list! And love the pic. (:

Someone who doesn't mind keeping track of paperwork and details and has print copies of their book to ship out is just the person to pursue awards.

Now that's a lot of awards. I don't write for them, but I won't exactly say no if someone wants to hand one over. This was really informative! :)

Yeah, that picture is sorely needed in the middle of July.

With the A/C on my back, those icicles do wonders. Ooo! I've got chills.

Awards are nice. Most you have to give them $ to enter... from what I've seen.

The Hammet Award (I assume it's named after Dashiel Hammet?)would look good on my shelf...

...once I ever finish that murder mystery book... cough, cough :)

I've dreamt of big things since I was a child - my aim is the Booker... well, a girl's got to dream, hasn't she?

I don't have awards. Maybe one day. You never know. Being on the NYTimes Bestsellers List would be the ultimate for me.

Really cool photo!
Pun intended :)

Hi Diane,

Oh yeah, good info and I shall now proceed to win the lot. Okay, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar, can win every book award going.

And before I make a total icicle of myself, I'm going now. A cool weekend to you.

They are all new prizes to me. Any of them would be good. And that's a cool pic, literally. :)

I had no idea there were so many awards. I knew a few, but wow! Thank you, and I love that pic. I want it to be frosty now.

I live in the Southern Hemisphere and its freezing!

I haven't heard of most of those awards. I think they're wonderful for the writer, but I don't buy books because they've won an award.

Great photo and yes what a great prize it would be to win! I do think awards are like a seal of approval, for some! Have a nice weekend :D

Icicles seem so long ago but I do love the heat.
Give me that Locus Award. I would treasure that.

Thank you and I'm glad everyone likes the photo. Hope you can also benefit from the list of book awards.

Having a number of Australian friends in the writing business, I do know some of those awards and being an ex pat Brit, I also know some of those.

Love the picture.

As it's winter in Oz, your pic really made me shiver. Yes, there are tons of awards, but usually awarded to the more literary-styled book by often a quite-well-known author. That's how it works in Oz, anyway. Not many emergent writers get a look in, sadly.

I had no idea there were so many awards... First I have to land a book deal, then I can aspire to such great heights.

James Garcia Jr said...

Yeah, there's lots of awards there that I would like to even have my name included in the same sentence with. Perhaps one day.
Thanks for the photo. It has been regularly over 100 degrees here in the California central valley, so staring at that picture is a big help. :)

I don't think I care which award my book won, I'd just be happy it got nominated.

I agree with Donna .. let's get an award and then put our hands up for more!!

Cheers Hilary

That is a pretty long list. I'd heard of the main ones but not all of these.
