The Insecure Writer's Support Group and Playing Cards Giveaway

It’s time for another edition of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group, founded by Ninja Captain, Alex J. Cavanaugh.

What's the best thing someone has ever said about your writing?

Someone purchased one of my books at a book signing in Myrtle Beach. Later, she emailed me and said my book (The Circle of Friends: Book I...Lori) had inspired her to start writing again. She was so excited that she came to see me when I toured through her home state of Ohio. It was so amazing to see her again.

What’s really touching is that I posted her photo on my site and I received an email from a man who knew her from collage and wanted to get in contact with her. She gave the okay and passed on his email. They courted and he proposed - and she said yes!

The theme of my promo for The Circle of Friends is “Get inspired to achieve your dreams.” I think she did just that and more!

Don’t forget to vote on the genre for this year’s IWSG anthology contest. Go HERE to cast your vote.

Playing Cards Giveaway

I have a deck of playing cards featuring The Circle of Friends Series to give away to one lucky person.

The only requirement - you have purchased or read one of my The Circle of Friends Books (we’ll go on the honor system here) or you’ve marked them to read on Goodreads. Leave a comment if you have purchased or read any of the books in the series or you’ve marked them to read on Goodreads. Giveaway open until July 20.

On Amazon : Book I...Lori, Book II...Sarah, Book III...James, Book IV...Mike, Book V...Heather, and the boxed set.

S.K. Anthony posted the latest installment of Writers After Dark: Awful Misguided Reviews.

And a review of one of my books was included:

What’s the nicest thing someone ever said about your writing? Do you have any awful misguided reviews? Do you want to win a deck of cards? (I know everyone is busy with IWSG today, so just come back later to watch all the videos.)

I love that you inspired a reader to start writing again. That's really terrific!!

Forget the Millionaire Matchmaker - you're way better! What a fantastic tale! Not only did you inspire her to write again, you sparked a romance, that in itself is a story waiting to be written. So awesome!

That is an incredible story about the couple finding each other. It's difficult to find something better than that.

Sheena-kay, that they got married was so sweet.

Medeia, now everyone knows what I sound like. And know that I own way too many Minions. LOL

Elsie, it was really special.

Super post! How lovely to be someone's inspiration. That must be the biggest compliment one can receive :)

Yes, I would like a pack of cool cards. I read the fifth one: Heather. Great story. That is so weird/funny about the "comic sans" review. It was in Century! Too rich.

Love the courtship/proposal story. If there's ever an inspiring writers story, that one is it. Cool cards and yes, I'll check back for the videos.

So cool that long lost friends met because of your writing! Amazing!
Love the podcasts!
I once had a 1 star review because they didn't want to read the book. They'd gotten it for free but it wasn't their cup of tea. Gee, thanks! :)

How cool is that. You and your writing were responsible for getting a couple together.
Loved your videos.

Bish Denham said...

Well, I'd say bringing two people together has got to be about the best compliment to your writing, ever!

Comic sans? Don't Be Koi sounds like a great read!

L. Diane Wolfe said...

CD, I'll take that.

Tamara, I know! I wish I could get Amazon to remove that review.

Yolanda, then why did they read it?

Chrys Fey said...

Inspiring someone to start writing again is huge. And you helped two people get married. That is amazing!

You have to tell me how you made those playing cards. I need to do that for a promo/giveaway some time. ;)

Lynn La Vita said...

Your "match making by accident" story warmed my heart. So simple, innocent, and touching. A random act of kindness at it's best. Bravo!

Hi, L. Diane,

Great that you inspired her to write again and find her lost love.. sounds like it could the theme of your next book.... never know.

kimlajevardi.com said...

Wow! Reigniting her writing and finding her a man--that's a good book. :)

J E Oneil said...

What a cute story! And how wonderful that your writing inspired her to write again. That's one of the best compliments a writer can get.

Arlee Bird said...

Inspiring someone to start writing again is pretty cool, but maybe even cooler would be if someone said, "You've inspired me to start reading more again and buying more books and now I'm going to buy everything you've ever written." A bit self-serving I suppose, but hey--it's nice to sell more books isn't it?

Your books are for lovers! That is so, so amazing the way all that started from your book being so inspiring.

Book 1 of Circle of Friends has been on my mental want-to-read list for a while and now I just added it to my Goodreads list, too. :)

That's an awesome story about the gal you inspired and the love she ended up finding... a novel in real life. :)

I love getting fan mail. After a long day, it keeps me going.

Diane, thanks for the clips! In Blogdom it's rare we see and hear a video clip of someone and I feel I know you a little bit better now. I'll need to do something similar soon.

I love reading books that encourage and give hope. I haven't read The Circle of Friends series yet, but I have marked them on Goodreads. What I plan to read next before I read The Circle of Friends, is Overcoming Obstacles with Spunk because that applies to my life now.

I love your voice and all you shared~ This is such a sweet story and maybe could be a book?! How wonderful! I have book three James.

This story could be a movie-with Minions and a roller coaster~

I wrote thank you, notes inspired by Jimmy Fallon and they were published in a magazine. My notes were more heart worthy than funny. I received a lot of emails with lovely feedback. It was during the Christmas season~

Thanks, L.Diane, for sharing this story and your voice!

Those cards are a popular give away item this month. They are all cool.

How awesome to have your writing inspire . . reunion and marriage. What a compliment to thepower of your writing :)

All those video's are great.

Inspiring someone to write is high praise. You should be very proud of that.

It can't get better than being responsible for two people falling in love and getting married! That's the ultimate compliment! All those Awful Reviews were so ... awful! Especially the one reviewer of King who gave the book 1-star because it wouldn't fit on his shelf. Crap like that is fine and Amazon is taking down completely honest, quality reviews by people it thinks know the author. Where's the justice? I love Minions too!!

Shannon Lawrence said...

What fun to have been part of bringing those two together! That's a compliment in itself. But to have inspired her to start writing again, wow!

Notes Along the Way with Mary Montague Sikes said...

I love that your writing/signings inspired a true love story. Thank you for sharing that!

Cherie Reich said...

Wow! She definitely was inspired to achieve her dreams. What happened seems like something that would happen in a romance novel. I can see why it's the best thing someone has said about your writing.
