Chrys Frey and Ten Things Witches Do For Fun

I am posting at the The Insecure Writer’s Support Group with a list of self-publishing resources for writers.

Today I welcome author Chrys Fey on her Witch of Death tour.

In honor of my newest short story, Witch of Death, I am sharing a list of things witches do for fun. This list is meant to be fun, although some witches probably do several things on the list.

Ten Things Witches Do For Fun:

1. Cast spells.
2. Ask leprechauns for luck.
3. Jump around the house on a broomstick.
4. Tell their nieces and nephews they’ll turn them into toads if they’re bad.
5. Talk to animals.
6. Mediate on the beach.
7. Shop not for shoes or clothes but for magickal tools (candles, stones, charms, etc.)
8. Watch a marathon of Charmed.
9. Leave sparkly things in the garden for fairies.
10. Go to animal shelters and play with all of the black cats.

QUESTION: What do you do for fun?

Witch of Death:

Detective Reid Sanders doesn’t believe in the supernatural, but when he’s faced with a crime scene that defies the laws of nature, he has no other choice but to start believing. And solving a magical murder involves working with a witch.

Liberty Sawyer embodies the look of your classic evil witch, so, it’s no surprise when she uncovers the murderer is a witch that she becomes Reid’s number one suspect. If she can’t convince him otherwise, more people could lose their lives to dark magic, including her.

  1. Great post Diane on Chrys's Book.
We live near the New Forest here in the UK which is full of witch craft shops as it was once renown for witches in that area.

    Yvonne.

  2. Why would a witch need to ask a leprechauns for luck? Can't she just create her own luck?

  3. Sounds so much fun, especially #1. Congrats on your book, Chrys.

  4. Black cats need love as well!

  5. @Yvonne, I would love check out those shops!

@Rhonda, witches are very careful when they do spells. There can always be undesired outcomes. Besides, it's more fun to talk to leprechauns.

    @Natalie, thank you!

@Alex, black cats are my favorite. :)

  7. You're right all those things sound like fun! What I like to do for fun seems rather mundane... listening to the birds in the morning as I do my yoga... :)

  8. Witches sound like fun people. Not sure what I would do if I had the power. Get the weeds to stop growing in my flower beds.

  9. @Bish, listening to the birds in the morning while doing yoga sounds lovely though.

@Susan, they are a lot of fun. :) I've started garden and I am learning about the battle of weeds. I think I'd do the same thing.

  10. I never thought of witches meditating on a beach. That sounds nice to me, but I think I'd rather meditate beside a mountain stream. I'm more of a mountain guy.

This is Chrys Fey month! That's okay with me.

It's great seeing Chrys here. Being a witch sounds cool.

  14. @Arlee, I bet witches meditate near mountain streams too. Any place in nature is a perfect mediating spot. Chrys Fey Month? I LIKE THAT!!! :D

@Tyreen, thanks again! Sorry you're seeing me so much. I hope you don't get sick of me! :P

    @Medeia, HI! I am thrilled to be on L. Diane's blog. :)

  17. Hehehe! I like to play with the black cats at the shelter too. Here in our county, every Friday the 13th, you can adopt a black cat for free! Thanks for the smile. :)

  24. Love this list!! Congrats on your book Robin.
Leaving sparkly things for the fairies is so cute and generous of the witches.

  25. Interesting. I talk to a feral cat. Does that make me a witch?

  26. @Christine, adopt a black cat for free? I love that! :D

  27. The witch in my book reads Schopenhauer and grows herbs. She’s clearly not having as much fun as she should be.

    VR Barkowski

  28. VR, but she sounds like a smart woman and practical. That is always good! But she could have a little more fun with black cats and broomsticks. ;)

  29. Great list. At times, in the movies, library, and other "quiet" places I'd like to turn a few kids into toads.

As a writer I like to write and read for fun. Signing books and contracts will be fun, too, when I get to that place in my career.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Jenn, I think a lot of us out there secretly wish we could turn certain children into toads. At least for a few hours. ;P

  31. hey, i might be a witch, i like to do lots of those things =) wouldn't it be fun!!
    great post - congrats, chrys!

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Tara, maybe we can be witches together. :P

@Hart, that's a good one! Some witches do like to do that. As long as no one can see them. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hmm, I like doing quite a few of those things that witches enjoy, although I'd add reading and watching TV to my fun list. :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Congratulations on your book, Chrys.

  36. I talk to animals, but I don't hop around on a broomstick. That could be dangerous. Way to go, Chrys!
