Chrys Frey and Ten Things Witches Do For Fun

I am posting at the The Insecure Writer’s Support Group with a list of self-publishing resources for writers.

Today I welcome author Chrys Fey on her Witch of Death tour.

In honor of my newest short story, Witch of Death, I am sharing a list of things witches do for fun. This list is meant to be fun, although some witches probably do several things on the list.

Ten Things Witches Do For Fun:

1. Cast spells.
2. Ask leprechauns for luck.
3. Jump around the house on a broomstick.
4. Tell their nieces and nephews they’ll turn them into toads if they’re bad.
5. Talk to animals.
6. Mediate on the beach.
7. Shop not for shoes or clothes but for magickal tools (candles, stones, charms, etc.)
8. Watch a marathon of Charmed.
9. Leave sparkly things in the garden for fairies.
10. Go to animal shelters and play with all of the black cats.

QUESTION: What do you do for fun?

Witch of Death:

Detective Reid Sanders doesn’t believe in the supernatural, but when he’s faced with a crime scene that defies the laws of nature, he has no other choice but to start believing. And solving a magical murder involves working with a witch.

Liberty Sawyer embodies the look of your classic evil witch, so, it’s no surprise when she uncovers the murderer is a witch that she becomes Reid’s number one suspect. If she can’t convince him otherwise, more people could lose their lives to dark magic, including her.

Chrys Fey is the author of Hurricane Crimes and 30 Seconds. She is currently working on the sequel to Hurricane Crimes that’ll serve as book two in the Disaster Crimes series.

When Fey was six years old, she realized her dream of being a writer by watching her mother pursue publication. At the age of twelve, she started writing her first novel, which flourished into a series she later rewrote at seventeen. Fey lives in Florida where she is waiting for the next hurricane to come her way.

You can connect with her on Facebook and her blog, Write with Fey. She loves to get to know her readers!

Great post Diane on Chrys's Book.
We live near the New Forest here in the UK which is full of witch craft shops as it was once renown for witches in that area.

Why would a witch need to ask a leprechauns for luck? Can't she just create her own luck?

Natalie Aguirre said...

Sounds so much fun, especially #1. Congrats on your book, Chrys.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Black cats need love as well!

Chrys Fey said...

@Yvonne, I would love check out those shops!

@Rhonda, witches are very careful when they do spells. There can always be undesired outcomes. Besides, it's more fun to talk to leprechauns.

@Natalie, thank you!

@Alex, black cats are my favorite. :)

Thank you so much for having me on your blog today, L. Diane! I know you were busy last week, so I really appreciate your time and support. :)

You're right all those things sound like fun! What I like to do for fun seems rather mundane... listening to the birds in the morning as I do my yoga... :)

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Witches sound like fun people. Not sure what I would do if I had the power. Get the weeds to stop growing in my flower beds.

Chrys Fey said...

@Bish, listening to the birds in the morning while doing yoga sounds lovely though.

@Susan, they are a lot of fun. :) I've started garden and I am learning about the battle of weeds. I think I'd do the same thing.

I never thought of witches meditating on a beach. That sounds nice to me, but I think I'd rather meditate beside a mountain stream. I'm more of a mountain guy.

This is Chrys Fey month! That's okay with me.

Jumping around the house on a broomstick sounds fun. Congrats to Chrys!

Happy Monday Diane!

Congrats again, Chrys! Love the fun post!

It's great seeing Chrys here. Being a witch sounds cool.

Chrys Fey said...

@Arlee, I bet witches meditate near mountain streams too. Any place in nature is a perfect mediating spot. Chrys Fey Month? I LIKE THAT!!! :D

@Tyreen, thanks again! Sorry you're seeing me so much. I hope you don't get sick of me! :P

@Medeia, HI! I am thrilled to be on L. Diane's blog. :)

Chrys Fey said...

@M Pax, sorry I missed your comment. Let's grab some broomsticks and jump around the house together. :D

Congrats, Fey. Sounds like a great read.

Hehehe! I like to play with the black cats at the shelter too. Here in our county, every Friday the 13th, you can adopt a black cat for free! Thanks for the smile. :)

Hi Diane and Chrys,

Delighted to see your tour has reached the amazing Diane's site, Chrys.

I like anything to do with witches and no, I wont make mention of my ex.

Hearty congrats, my esteemed friend. Do beginner witches fly off the handle?

Gary :)

Cool cover - I like the 3-D effect. Congratulations, Chrys!
For a while, I watched Charmed. It's kind of addicting and silly.
Thank you, ladies.

I love "ask leprechauns for luck" in the list of what witches do for fun. Very entertaining read!

Love this list!! Congrats on your book Robin.
Leaving sparkly things for the fairies is so cute and generous of the witches.

Interesting. I talk to a feral cat. Does that make me a witch?

Chrys Fey said...

@Christine, adopt a black cat for free? I love that! :D

@Gary, I feel like I've sort of made a name for myself now that I made it to her blog. :)

@Shelly, Jemi, and Ann, thanks ladies!

@Robyn, Charmed is very addicting. I have all the seasons and like to have mini marathons.

@Vanessa, thank you! I'm glad you liked it.

@Randi, I'm happy that you liked the Leprechaun one.

@Holli, Robin? lol Wrong name, but that's okay. ;)

@Mary, hmm...maybe. Or maybe you're just sensitive to kitties. :)

The witch in my book reads Schopenhauer and grows herbs. She’s clearly not having as much fun as she should be.

VR, but she sounds like a smart woman and practical. That is always good! But she could have a little more fun with black cats and broomsticks. ;)

Scribbles From Jenn said...

Great list. At times, in the movies, library, and other "quiet" places I'd like to turn a few kids into toads.

As a writer I like to write and read for fun. Signing books and contracts will be fun, too, when I get to that place in my career.

Chrys Fey said...

@Jenn, I think a lot of us out there secretly wish we could turn certain children into toads. At least for a few hours. ;P

Tara Tyler said...

hey, i might be a witch, i like to do lots of those things =) wouldn't it be fun!!
great post - congrats, chrys!

Hart Johnson said...

You forgot dancing naked under the moonlight, Chrys! Or maybe that's just me. Nice list!

Chrys Fey said...

@Tara, maybe we can be witches together. :P

@Hart, that's a good one! Some witches do like to do that. As long as no one can see them. ;)

Cherie Reich said...

Hmm, I like doing quite a few of those things that witches enjoy, although I'd add reading and watching TV to my fun list. :)

Congratulations on your book, Chrys.

I talk to animals, but I don't hop around on a broomstick. That could be dangerous. Way to go, Chrys!
