You do this through:
Blogging

And anything else that gets people talking about you!

I had some strange looks when I wore my "A to Z Challenge" T shirt shopping last week so I told them what it was all about.
Good tips you put up.
Yvonne.
Quite a creepy pic but I like it!
It's true that we can do a lot ourselves to create buzz just by being visible on lots of different channels. Obviously time management has a big part to play and balancing that with your writing.
I mainly use blogging but this year I'm trying to use goodreads and twitter more. I think more readers use the site.
I use facebook and goodreads poorly.
Some good suggestions. As you've mentioned before, you need to make a plan of attack. Well, you didn't quite say it that way. To be effective you do have to plan and follow through.
This year, all my avenues have been lax. sigh
That is one wicked photo.
Once the Challenge is over, I'll begin focusing on buzz again.
Sia, a plan helps.
I definitely need a better plan in place for media buzz. I had the blog part down and facebook, but I know I need to get to work on my article writing, and figure out podcasts and video.
Great ideas here, Diane! There are some areas that I enjoy promoting in more than others. It does help to think it through.
Podcasts are something I hadn't thought..great tips! :)
I've noticed the biggest buzz comes from book bloggers/reviews.
Media Buzz is very interesting. Some is so effective that you jump up and down to get the book.
Love those mantis. They're the gardens best friend.
I was just reading a blog which talked about a book called Mantis and then I see your picture. Can't say I like them very much although your picture is great.

Creating your own media buzz is important. Good tips.
LOVE Mantis! (:
Nice mantis!! I feel that creating buzz is something I need to learn better. I blog regularly, tweet and Facebook. I've had zero luck on Goodreads, even with book giveaways. But I have a secret plan for buzz I'll implement in the near future.
that picture is beautiful and sort of creepy at the same time :) Media buzz, certainly something all authors should know how to create :)

I need to expand my buzz-making. Not something that comes naturally to me.
I love that picture. I've always been fascinated by the praying mantis. No idea why.
Well, besides blogging, I'm on Goodreads and Twitter... Whenever I see a mantis I think... "That was great dear, now, let me bite off your head."
That Mantis is totally jumping on a trampoline!
You get an A to Z Blog Challenge T-shirt? Why didn't I know about this???
I've tried many of these and have discovered that, no matter what you do, with fiction, it's really all about genre. *sign*
I think media buzz is a powerful tool.

I help cohost W4WS for buzz. :)
Mantis in Flight is what comes to mind after viewing the picture.
I've been thinking since the beginning of April that I need to do a release on my latest book. Haven't got around to that yet. Thanks for the reminder and the other ways we can start a buzz.
As always, L. Diane, you have some great ideas...
Thanks for the tips....
That is one creepy mantis. I'm not sure, but is it praying?
Or, should that be Preying? LOL.
One thing I love about living in the country is all the mantis's I see.
Good points, Diane. And an added bonus is when we share out friend's postings via the various social networks to help increase awareness of them. Now to buzz off, me thinks :)
Pray tell, a mantis.
Gary
That's a beautiful pic!
:D
Your mantis looks like it's dancing.
I do a little of this, some of that, and more of the other. And mix them up.
These critters scare me. They look so threatening.
I should be creating a plan now for when my novella comes out in the Fall. I really don't want to promote... I just want it to sell like crazy! Asking too much? Yeah... I know... {{sigh}}
I blog and use Twitter and enjoy these venues for building my authorship, if you will.
That photo of the praying mantis is AMAZING! You are talented.

Love the picture!
I have plans to create a buzz when my book comes out, but I wouldn't say it would cause a media buzz.
I love getting the word out! I read tons of social media blogs posts, and I'm always trying to tools as soon as they are available. I think it's fun!

Oh yes, and social media. Facebook, twitter and blogging forums help a lotttt!

I love your photo today. :)
Very important not to rely on others to do all your promoting.
Heather
Not a big fan of blogging forums... but social media gets my thumbs up. Happy to connect. Do visit www.disha-doshi.blogspot.com I am following you via #AtoZChallenge
I should really be creating more media buzz than I am right now. Right now I rely on my blog (which isn't the most visited site) and comments on forums. Time to take it up a notch!
Hi Diane .. I'm looking forward to expanding my horizons this year ..
Cheers Hilary
