A to Z Challenge - Bookmarks

For the A to Z Challenge, I’m posting promo and other tips for writers, along with a daily photo.(All photos taken by me.)

I also received another section of the A to Z List to monitor and am in desperate need of 2-3 more helpers! If you would like to join Spunky's Soldiers, please let me know in the comments.

Bookmarks are an author essential! Every author needs bookmarks.

Bookmarks are practical. Anyone who reads a print book uses them. Of all the promotional items you can hand out, it’s the least likely to be tossed.

They promote for us long after we are gone - because people will NOT remember you or your book five minutes later!

Okay, authors - do you have bookmarks? Carry them with you at all times? Leave them everywhere possible?

Visit other participants in the A to Z Challenge HERE

And your daily photo - "Bed and Breakfast"

$4.99 Ebook ISBN 978-0-9827139-9-0

I love a bed and breakfast...never been to a bad one. And of course I love bookmarks! I will have some made, as soon as I'm published.:) I wish I could help you but I can't take anything more on.

I do have bookmarks and they work very well. And I'm happy to help if you still need volunteers!

Great tip! I almost ordered bookmarks for my real world lauch but having ordered all the books for it too, couldn't justify the cost. I'd like to do it another time though.

Diane, if you need me to, just add a few more to my list of bloggers to follow. I can probably handle five more. Just let me know the numbers on today's post comment box.

Or, email me. Either is fine.

I'm in the process of coming up with ideas for a bookmark. I never thought about leaving them wherever I go. Thanks for the tip!

Yes! I love bookmarks but will use anything at hand - the other day I used a stone. I have the bookmark my mother used and I treasure it! She was a nutbar reader too.

Bookmarks are great because they are actually useful.

I don't have bookmarks, but I have "made" some in Photoshop. Never printed them off :) But I loved the look of them. My own art, of course.

Lovely B & B. Sorry to hear you have more blogs to patrol. I'm not surprised as there were over 1900 signees. My bunch are doing OK at the moment.

I love bookmarks, I have lots of them, some from authors which are reminders as you said.

I amused my best friend, Sandra, to no end by making a bookmark for my Kindle book, THE LEGEND OF VICTOR STANDISH -- which has no pages to mark! But I liked it. Great topic. Good luck with monitoring!! Vizine time.

Ida, thank you for offering!

Randi Lee, thank you.

Nick, you can get them online at a really good price.

Clarissa, thank you - I might do that.

Susan, start leaving them everywhere.

One day I hope to have bookmarks for a published book. The question is, where does one get them made?

What a lovely looking B & B!

I used to collect bookmarks when I was in high school. Loved them :)

If I weren't already helping Jeremy, I'd volunteer to help you out...sorry.

Great pic Diane!

I love bookmarks, too. I'm giving away bookmarks this whole month over on Untethered Realms FB page. I like to choose certain one's to go with certain books, lol!

Gorgeous photo! I love B&B's, The Engineer does not. Too many other people one is supposed to interact with...sigh.
I hear you on the bookmarks, but what about us Kindle addicts??? ;-)

I just bought two books from an author at a book talk recently, and when I had them signed, I got bookmarks to go along with my new books. Sweet deal.

You know. I don't have bookmarks, but I imagine they could be used to advertise a wide variety of niches - not necessarily just books. Food for thought...

Visit me on A to Z, too, if you have a chance. http://www.deborahdera.com

When I have money to promote my books, I'll definitely do the bookmark scheme.

I'm almost out of bookmarks. Bloggers request them as giveaways, usually signed. It's so easy!

I had a big stack of bookmarks made for DragonCon2012. Each day I would leave a few here and there and return the next day to find them gone! First I was excited! Then I happened by a gentleman cleaning up for the evening... He neatly slid all the bookmarks, cards and pamphlets from each table and counter into a large trashcan, as I'm sure he'd done the same thing the previous nights. :(

Great post and cool idea. Love it.

I can help out as a minion. Don't give me WAY too many, but I can definitely help out.

I love bookmarks and collect scads of them at book signings and conferences. I guess that's why it was also my favorite promo item for my own books.

Very true. Which reminds me, I need to order more bookmarks for my own book.

This is my first year participating in A-Z, but I'd be happy to help if you still need it. I'm enjoying visiting random blogs from the list...taking me into unexplored territory. I didn't realize so many people wrote about movies!

I'd been hearing the opposite about them, lately, so it's good to know they're still in demand.

@David List - ouch. Yeah, I've seen and heard of that, too.

What a coincidence, my C challenge mentions my much loved bookmark. I could not be without one, just like I would have a panic attack it I didn't have a book to read.

Cheers

Nope, don't have any as of yet as I'm not published, but when I do I will have. I love my bookmarks, I've some nifty ones, kewl sayings etc., but none from authors, must rectify that one. Good post and thank you.

Great tip! I'm so new at being an author. I've read several of your blogs today and I am excited to check out the information you've provided! Jo

Hi Diane, Love this B&B photo. I could just fall in and relax. And i do use bookmarks because I am always reading several things at a time, but I usually make them as I go. I hope you found some soldiers to help you. Let me know if you are still looking. So far I have been faithful to visit at least 5 new folks a day, usually more, plus revisiting those who have stopped by at my site as often as I can. God bless, Maria @ Delight Directed Living
