A to Z Challenge - Attitude

For the A to Z Challenge, my topic is leadership and goal-setting. I am posting short excerpts from my book, Overcoming Obstacles with SPUNK! The Keys to Leadership and Goal-Setting, along with an inspiring photo. Enjoy and dream big!

Attitude

You cannot control that flat tire or the rude salesman, but you can master your attitude regarding the situation. It’s the only thing you can control. Why surrender your one and only power to outside circumstances and other people? Your attitude is your one true possession.

Happiness is a choice. We choose to feel joyful or to feel miserable. When things go wrong, (or at least not according to plan), we are given the opportunity to decide how the situation will affect us. If we refuse to let circumstances dictate our attitude, then they have no real control over our lives. We become the master of our destiny. This is tremendous news indeed!

Thank you to everyone who joined in my Sad Songs Blogfest last Friday - it was my first one and I was thrilled to have so many sign up!

One of these days I'll join a blogfest. I can never seem to find the time, or else happen upon it too late. Good luck with your A-Z. Attitude is essential. You've got that right.

I definitely agree. Attitude is so important, and can make the difference between a good day and a bad day.

What a great attitude you have. I try to be understanding of others, it makes my life easier, that's for sure.

"Happiness is a choice" is a favorite saying of my mom! It's so true, too. And you're right it's awesome news that how we feel and react to any situation is in our own control and power!

Happy A to Z, Diane, and have a great day!!

One of my old bosses -- note I wrote "boss" -- had on his desk a hand-made plaque, something he cut and polished in his garage.

It read: AAA -- All About Attitude

So I see your one A, and raise you two.

Nice topic. I try to start my day with positive thoughts and attitude. There are some days that things come up that change that whole attitude. I have realized from my job that misery loves them some company and it is often hard to distance myself from that. :/

It was a great blogfest Diane - so many great songs!

Your 'attitude' approach sounds an awful lot like the advice I give my students! :)

Having a positive attitude is so important. As you say, we can choose to be happy. It's not what happens to us that matters most but how we react to it and treat others around us. Speaking of attitude, that's a great cat picture. Cats sure seem to have a definite attitude, don't they!

For sure attitude creates Altitude - good job Diane. Glad to see another WWC on the A - Z Challenge - looking forward to more from you.

Hi, Diane,

Yep. Life is all about attitude! That's really all that matters, and it's certainly all we can control. Thanks for the reminder.

An important message here. Sometimes, when I'm on the verge of blowing my top, I just have to make myself laugh at how ridiculous the situation is. Doesn't often help, but it makes me feel better :-)

Attitude is everything. And the blogfest was fun.

What a great reminder! :)

We're the masters of our own destiny...I love that!

And that cat? Precious, attitude and all.

This is so true. Our emotions are all our own and the only thing we can control. You don't make me happy/mad etc. I do!

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Attitude. Beautiful way to start the blog challenge -- and a good reminder on this gray drizzly day with taxes looming in my future that I'm responsible for my own happiness. Thanks!

I'm pleased everyone agrees on attitude.

You are so right but it is challenging I think to change your outlook/attitude - I am trying - hopefully you will share more hints about how we can do this.

It is funny because I just wrote about this myself. It is something that I struggle with, this idea of living every day with a better attitude.

I recently changed the name of my alarm on my iPhone from "Alarm" to "Relax. Smile." That way, these two words are the last thing I see before I go to bed and the first thing I see when I wake up.
