Refreshed and Ready to Move Forward

Thank you to everyone who left a comment on my last post. Our trip to see my husband's parents was wonderful and I enjoyed ten days away from home. And the Internet. I think I checked my email twice and that was it.

But it was wonderful to share it with my husband's parents, who were thrilled with our visit:

We didn't do much, but that was fine with me. Went out to eat, went to downtown Little Rock and rode the Trolley, went for some walks, went to a movie. And, we went to see the Big Dam Bridge:

It's one of the largest footbridges in America and it goes across the Big Dam - thus, the name! And we did walk all the way across and back.

And no road trip that passes through Memphis would be complete without a shot of the defunct Pyramid, a really bad idea for an arena. (Too small to be of any use - what was the owner thinking?) I remember a weekend trip to Memphis over twenty years ago and seeing it in the process of being built...

All in all, it was a wonderful time. I so appreciate my husband's parents. Now that my mother is gone, they are my only family. The trip put some things in perspective, too. Going to make some changes next month and make 2012 a better and less jam-packed year.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and didn't lose an eyebrow during the Black Friday sales. I have a special guest this Thursday and then the Weekend Sillies return!

Glad you had a fun and safe trip. Getting away from everything is good for the soul. Looking forward to your special guest on Thursday.

Sounds like a great visit! That pyramid made me shake my head when I saw it, too. Cool to see, but not the best idea for an arena! Glad you were able to reconnect with family.

You were in Little Rock and didn't stop by and say HI?? Just kidding, I was in Louisiana for Thanksgiving. I'm glad you had an enjoyable visit! :)

DL, I thought about you though!

Thank you everyone. I will be visiting blogs again this week. Rather frightening to open up my Google Reader and see over 1000 posts!

It is good to get away sometimes, but that return to emails and blog posts is a tough hump to get over. Glad you had some time for enjoying family and evaluating life. Have a great Christmas season.

What a great name for a bridge. I'm surprised someone didn't protest.

Oh, I thought you photoshopped and put the name of the bridge on the photo of the bridge. Strange but good name. It's good to hear you have a great trip.

Glad to see you had a relaxing, enjoyable time, Diane! You deserve it. You are always working so hard! I didn't realize Craig's family was in Arkansas. I have family in TN and MS and looking at those pictures felt like reading a postcard from my sister!

Sounds like you had a wonderfully relaxing visit, Diane! My Thanksgiving was uneventful too, just enjoyable time with family over food and games. :) I did a little shopping the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The same sales were still going on and hardly anyone was there! I was surprised. Now I know the secret. :)

Diane, you were only 4 hours away, sheesh. I'm glad you had a refreshing trip away from it all. Sometimes we jam way too much in our schedules and don't leave enough time to reflect and renew our spirits.

I was off the internet most of the Thanksgiving weekend and I find I need those breaks for my wellness and sanity.

I'll watch for your Thursday guest.

Pyramids seemed to be really in style for a while there. Maybe the guy that built this was copying Vegas.

Lee, I still haven't cleared out my Google Reader. It just keeps growing and growing...

Susan, it's over the Big Dam - what else were they going to call it?

Thank you, Carolyn.

Enid, that is the real name.

Hi Trish!! Yes, they live north of Little Rock. We so needed this trip.

Laura, don't tell anyone.

Sia, how close was I?
