Libraries

For the A to Z Challenge, I’m posting promo and other tips for writers. Today it’s libraries.

I could give you all sorts of facts and information about libraries. They’re great for those without a means to purchase books. They’re great for research. They’re a great place to discover new authors. And while many are closing, libraries still outnumber bookstores.

So, let me provide something you might not know.

Libraries don’t return books.

And once a book has been checked out so many times, it needs to be replaced.

Isn’t that great?

Are your books in libraries?

I found a few of my blogger buddies in my library before I know about blogging.
I love my library -- going there today.

Often I'll read a book from the library and purchase it afterwards. And I'll ask my local library to purchase books by or recommended by bloggers. The library is one of my favourite places for so many reasons!

I LOVE libraries! They're a wonderful institution for learning and creating. It makes me sad when I hear about libraries closing.

Hadn't even thought about that. I need to visit my parish library with my son, to keep him reading.

You're right, they don't return books. But they do sell 'em in book sales & for low, low prices! I love libraries for all the reasons you listed & more. It's sad to see some closing or drastically reducing hours. But I have a feeling that there will always be libraries!

i didn't know that! I'm a big library fan. Oftentimes I end up purchasing the books I check out because I like them so much.

Libraries are awesome - and I don't just say that 'cause I work in one! ;)

I am a big libary fan. In fact, I included an entire section in The Frugal Book Promoter (www.budurl.com/FrugalBkPromo) on how to utilize the benefits offered to authors by libraries. One of the secrets to getting books in libraries is to contact them personally and to have a review of your book in the Library Journal.

I'm lucky to have a great library within walking distance of my house. I should use it more, but I love owning books. I do check out a monster stack every few weeks for my kids, plus DVDs.

Libraries are great! I haven't been to mine in awhile. On another blog I read earlier today, it was mentioned that it is library week. It is just so sad to hear about all the libraries having to close because of lack of funds.
