The Thursday Excerpt - Ronald E. Hignite

Today I welcome poet Ronald E. Hignite!

POEM FROM “REFLECTIONS OF THE SOUL”

Where Simple Mortals Go

From the depths of woman’s soul,
Life ushers into man
To begin his mortal trip
In a far and distant land.
He travels down a crooked road
With no warnings for its curves,
And if his sight is keen,
His journey lingers on.
Through peaks and valleys,
Never knowing,
He steers his helpless course;
Then suddenly,
Somewhere,
Somehow,
The road abruptly ends,
And he is sent
Without control,
Where simple mortals go.

Hi Ronald, nice poem. The only poetry I seem to be able to write is haiku.

Well done, Robert! I enjoy poetry too. I feel like it not only encourages but also inspires.

And Diane, I thought I'd signed up to follow your blog and found it never went through. So here I am again, lol. I'm finally following correctly.

How exciting! Featuring a poet and his new book. Truly lovely. I recently started a Poet's Corner in my Sharing with Writers newsletter. I truly didn't have any idea of how many poets are out there wanting more information until then.

Best,
Carolyn Howard-Johnson
