Atlanta is a busy place this Labor Day Weekend!
The Decatur Book Festival's three day festival concludes today. Some of the featured authors (by invitation only) are Sara Shepard, Charlaine Harris, and Kate DiCamillo.
Not to be outdone, Dragon Con also boasts some famous authors, including Todd McCaffrey, Timothy Zahn, Jody Lynn Nye, and Alan Dean Foster. (And you should see the list of actors attending!) I think the geek in me would rather hang out at Dragon Con!
And it's a big sports weekend in Atlanta as well. On Saturday, Degree V12 300 Nationwide Series was held at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and Kevin Harvick won the race. Over at Georgia Tech, the YellowJackets beat Jacksonville State, 37 to 17.
So, this weekend, Atlanta is either THE place to be - or THE place to avoid! (Ever driven in Atlanta traffic...?)

Atlanta traffic is insane! And all I do is drive through on my way to see Birmingham family.
They do have some great names at the conferences, though.

I think I would prefer Dragon Con too!
I haven't driven in Atlanta, but my husband has told me all about his driving experiences there. :)
Sounds like this is the weekend to be in Atlanta, in a hotel close to everything so you didn't have to hit the highways.
I've never been to DragonCon, but have heard it is definitely something to be experienced.

Alyce, Helen and Karen, if you've never experienced Atlanta traffic - picture eight-nine lanes going each direction and traffic completely stopped in all of them. That's Atlanta.
I'd just cross it right off your list of things you must see before you die! :)
Won't be going to this one, but I've hung out in Atlanta a lot in years gone by. LOVE Buckhead district!

Marvin, I will be near there in just four weeks! Have signings in Atlanta, Marietta, and all the way down to Valdosta.
Awwww, c'mon, Diane. You know that a book fair is worth a little traffic. Those who participate in booths will want to review their chapter on book fairs and other events in The Frugal Book Promoter (www.budurl.com/FrugalBkPromo). They can be great but only with lots of premarketing!
Best,

Sounds like Atlanta is the place to be! I haven't visited since the 60s.
