A to Z Challenge - Utilizing Resources

For the A to Z Challenge, I’m posting promo and other tips for writers, along with a daily photo. (All photos taken by me.)

There’s thousands of resources (probably millions) for writers and authors, so let me focus on one big one - the Literary Marketplace.

What is it? From the Literary Marketplace website:

Featuring listings on more than 30,000 companies, books, periodicals, awards, courses, or events (to name just a few categories), no matter what -- or who-- you are looking for in the book trade, chances are you'll find it in literarymarketplace.com. A small sampling of the listings includes:

• Publishers
• Literary Agents
• Distributors & Sales Representatives
• Wholesalers
• Book Producers
• Exporters & Importers
• Manufacturers & Printers
• Translators & Interpreters
• Paper Suppliers
• Remainder Dealers
• Reference Books & Magazines
• Literary Association, Societies & Awards
• (and International listings as well.)

Three ways to access:
Your local library - be sure they have a current edition
Purchase the 2-volume set for $329.00 - new editions available every year
Subscribe to the website for $399.00 - updated on a continuous basis

Have you ever utilized this amazing resource?

  8. That is a super resource and thanks to the libraries we don't have to buy a copy.

    That bridge shot is excellent.

  14. Literary Marketplace is such a great resource AND it's almost always up to date which is hugely important given the way things change and shift so quickly in publishing.

  15. I hear lots of awesome things about the Literary Marketplace. I think I'll have to get myself a copy.

  19. There are so many writer's resources. One I've used a lot is Writer's Market. This one sounds similar. Of course, with online publishing, things changed quite a bit, so I haven't purchased an actual copy of WM in a few years. Nor do I have an online subscription. So much of this info is available for free now.

  22. Sounds like a wonderful resource and to be able to access in the library is awesome because it is a bit pricy for a yearly thing.

    THAT PIC IS AWESOME!!!!

    Thanks L. Diane.

Excited about Magdalena Ball’s and my new Sublime Planet poetry book released to celebrate Earth Day coming in April. The e-book is on Amazon in the US (http://bitly.com/EarthDayKind) in Europe and Japan, too. It's also available in paperback to be used as a gift for the tree huggers you know. All proceeds for that benefit the World Wild Life Fund.

  33. Unfortunately my small local library doesn't keep it on hand. And I can't afford the subscription... Sigh.

  34. Something to look into next time I'm at the library.
