A to Z Challenge - Self-Image

For the A to Z Challenge, my topic is leadership and goal-setting. I am posting short excerpts from my book, Overcoming Obstacles with SPUNK! The Keys to Leadership and Goal-Setting, along with an inspiring photo. Enjoy and dream big!

Self-Image

Our self-esteem is the deciding factor in whether we succeed or fail in life. It is an intangible possession of incredible power. What exactly is this internal force and what shapes its attributes?

Self-esteem can be described as a sense of personal worth. It is self-respect, confidence, and genuine joy on the positive side and self-doubt, worthlessness, and unhappiness on the negative side. Our ability to handle situations and accomplish goals is determined by the amount of self-esteem we possess. At any given time, this can also fluctuate between sufficient amounts or serious deficiency.

  4. This is definitely true! I have pretty good self-esteem but there are times when I seriously doubt myself. That's okay as long as I shake it off and don't let doubt control the situation.

    Have a great weekend, Diane!!

  10. I so love that picture. Self-esteem is something I have been working on hard these last few years. It feels good when you find it but also takes daily positive talk for me!

  11. I'm missing the Weekend Sillies! A positive self esteem is vital for anyone to thrive in this life. I know where my identity lies and that God doesn't make no junk. So this helps me during those down times to keep plugging along.

  14. Elizabeth, Hobbes was a character. I really miss her.

Stephen, you'll just have to laugh at the cat with her head stuck in a boot.

  15. Self-esteem: you've hit the nail right on the head. As a Christian, i was taught that the second greatest commandment is "love your neighbor as yourself". Well, that doesn't just mean that I'm to love my neighbor, it means that i have to love myself first and for that, i need self-esteem! I need to know that i am not junk and only then can i love my neighbor properly! I mean, how can i love my neighbor when i don't know what love feels like!
    Cheers, Sylvie

  16. Hi Diane! Self esteem is very important.

I like the cat picture. Reminds me of our cat. He's always sticking his face in everyone's shoes. My worry is that he's going to decide to barf in one of them. YUCK! ; (
