  2. I saw the article about the Encyclopedia Brittanica. It made me sad! I remember using encyclopedias for research when I was in school. Even in high school when the internet was getting big, we weren't allowed to use internet research because there were so many bad sites out there. We had to rely on good 'ol research books from the library! Who knew we'd be living in an age when encyclopedia books would become obsolete. :(

  3. Stina, the hate cat made me laugh out loud. It's so true.

Laura, it is sad. I'm sure a lot has to do with the cost of printing and the way people access information now.

  6. Your lead story of Encyclopedia Britannica is absolutely absurd. We already have Wikipedia and others. Don't they realize that a lot of people who buy Britannica do it for home decorating purposes? My wife had a set when we got married and they are displayed prominently in our living room. The set is over 20 years old and looks as new as it did when she bought it. I'm probably the only one in our house who has ever cracked open a volume, but usually I look things up on the computer.

    What are they thinking?

  7. Simon's Cat video opened up my smile!

Our world is changing. I loved the Children's Encyclopedia. There is something that makes pictures on printed pages more 'real' than on an computer screen (at least for me).

  8. We sold our Briannica set years ago at a yard sale when we moved. The letter U was missing but someone bought it anyway.
I was pretty sure PayPal would give in.

  13. Jemi, that sounds embarrassing!

Arlee, it probably has a lot to do with cost. Treasure that set you own.

Susan, amusing someone bought it with a volume missing.

    Thanks, Armchair.
