I am combining my entry with one of my photos. Bear in mind I didn't have time to write a prose piece and it's been YEARS since I attempted anything poetic. Vacations usually imply summer, which means it's hot, so this is what I envisioned.
Dusty odors drift on the summer wave
Shafts crackle under the oppressive heat
Respite found in the retreating day
The golden light waving goodbye
I'm also happy to report that I have a lot more images up at my site for sale, including the one above. You can find them at my Spunk On A Stick site: Stock Photos I and Stock Photos II

Lovely photo captured perfectly in your prose!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture and the poem!

ReplyDeleteThank you, everyone.
Love both the picture and your poem.
ReplyDeleteNicely done! :) Thanks for the info about the photos. Will check it out!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo and poem, Diane. It made me feel nostalgic! Evoking emotion from the poem is what a poet strives for. Nice!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading and writing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines
The picture goes well with the prose...

8 photos a week. I hope that your site does so well that you end up having to increase that goal, but it sounds perfect for now. Wouldn't it be great if someday you were adding 20, 30, or even 50 because they were selling so well????
ReplyDeleteCareful, this new venture could take on a life of its own :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Both the picture and the words captured with it.
ReplyDeleteYou clearly have a gift for poetry. I really like the descriptive words and the line "Shafts crackle under the oppressive heat." Nicely done, Diane. The picture is evocative too.
ReplyDeleteBe well,
xoRobyn
Terrific photo. It seems to be begging for poetry to be written about it. I'll have to check out some of your photos soon.
ReplyDeleteThe pic and the poem synced completely.
ReplyDeleteLaura, thank you.
ReplyDeleteRobin, by then I'd have to start taking more!
Steven, that would be wonderful if it did.
Robyn, thank you.
Great pic and poem!
ReplyDeleteHi L Diane. Beautiful photo and poetry. The light is just gorgeous on the plant and the words add that summery feel. Glad you stretched your poetic wings for the prompt. Thank you for posting for the inaugural prompt.

ReplyDeleteI like your poem and it does so fit the photo~
Happy Weekend to you~
Gorgeous poetry, and equally as beautiful picture :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite kind of vacation is going away from the Australian summer to cooler climes in another hemisphere. Though I don't mind going somewhere where it's spring or autumn either.
Denise, I did my best.
ReplyDeleteTrisha, I would much rather go where it is cool.
Thank you so much, everyone.
Beautiful picture and poem.
ReplyDeleteA photographer AND a poet -- you've got skillz!
ReplyDeleteWow nicely done with evoking the senses. Your poem reminded me of growing up in a place known for its wheat production. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Diane
ReplyDeleteLove the picture and the poem is beautiful. I can't offer feed back since I'm not a poet.
Nancy
Thanks, Milo.
ReplyDeleteNancy, that's okay, I'm not a poet either.
Lovely photo and poem! Nice combination. I will check out your stock photos too.
ReplyDeleteLovely poetry and living in the south, I can hear those kernels on the tips of the shafts crackling, the cotton pods snapping open. This year we've been lucky to have rain and so have to endure oppressive humidity instead of baking heat. Don't know which I prefer! Found you on Denise's bloghop. Great photo!
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely photos on your Stock photos site! Do you ever do portraits?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo and poem! I will check out your other images too. Do you take all the photos?
ReplyDeleteHi Diane .. love your photos - and I must remember your 'stocks' ...
ReplyDeleteYou can see that oppressive heat in the wheat photo ..
Glad the computer glitch seems to be sorted .. and good advice there too - cheers Hilary
