Reading Your Own & the Butterfly Award

First, thank you to Joan De La Haye at http://joandelahaye.wordpress.com/ for giving me the Butterfly Award!
The rules for passing it along are

1. Put the logo on your blog.
2. Add a link to the person who awarded you.
3. Award up to ten other blogs.
4. Add links to those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message for your awardees on their blogs

My other thought for the day comes from reviewing & editing my own work. Sometimes I become so involved in the process, I forget that I am the one who wrote it. Once in a while, it even surprises me - "Wow, I wrote this?"

Does this happen to all writers? Or am I the only one who experiences her work from a third-party perspective now and then?

  2. Kudos, Diane! This is one of the more beautifully done awards I've seen going around - actually got one myself on Free Spirit a while back.

  4. Sometimes I don't want to admit I wrote something when it's not working right, but when it does go write I wonder how I thought it up.

  5. Sometimes if my writing doesn't look so hot, I'll look at it and say "**I** wrote **this**?" If it strikes me as pretty good, then I'll get a little smug and self-satisfied. :-)

  6. I've done that before. Sometimes it's a good thing and I'm pretty chuffed with myself other times I quickly hit the delete button and pretend I never saw it.

  8. Just read your thoughts at the bottom of your post. Yes, that happens to me. And it's fun.

Of course, the opposite sometimes occurs too. Ha! "Oh dear. Did I write that?"

  9. Thank you very much for the award!

I have done that same thing of reading something I wrote & actually being rather amazed that I did it. It's usually after I've set aside the manuscript for a period of time.
