And now for something completely different...

Think that will be Friday's theme from now on - I've always liked Monty Python!

Around the web today, we have President Obama rooting for the Steelers:
Obama Interview
We're Steelers fans in this household, so we're pulling for them, too!

SPAN just updated information regarding the new lead law:

What's going to happen is anybody's guess. I know some publishers who are holding off or discontinuing their children's line. And what about libraries & schools... ?

My good friend and Book 'Em founder, Mark Kearney, is being interviewed by Fran Stewart on "Mystery Matters" today at 10amEST:

And on the home front, changed some things here on the blog and spent five hours yesterday packaging up bookmarks! (So I am a little behind on some things...)

  1. I'm not a huge football fan -- I'll sit for minutes at a time and watch, especially if the commercials are on during the Super Bowl. My younger sister, however, is a huge Steelers fan. When she came here over the holidays, she left to go to the local "official" Steelers bar and watch the game. She wanted to be with all the other rabid fans. And, no, she's not from Pittsburg.

  3. Nice little potpourri post! (smile)

I'm a sports fan, I watch football, but the NBA is my main addiction.

  4. I didn't realize you knew Mark Kearney. What a wonderful guy he is. If you've been involved with Book 'Em, perhaps you also know Trish Terrell. She, too, is great. (I stayed with her when I did a book talk in her town.) I did one of the Virginia Book 'Em events and another one in NH. I'm wondering if we've met.

  6. Prill, if you go to Trish's site, you'll see a picture of me! We've been buddies for several years now. She is my mentor as an author and the most genuine person I know. She even contributed a chapter to my upcoming book, "Overcoming Obstacles with SPUNK!"

  7. Thanks for the "what's in the news" blog posting today. It is kinda refreshing. I'm not sure I'm rooting for; possibly the Steelers since I've never rooted for the Cardinals.

  8. I'm looking forward to seeing The Boss on the halftime show. Speaking of Super Bowl activities, there will be a couple of commercials in 3D, so make sure to get your weird looking glasses. Oh yeah, and I think there's going to be a football game too ...

Say, your new blog logo looks great!

  9. If you like Monty Python, do you remember this scene? "Oh, Please, please, Mommy. Please buy me some rat on a stick!"

With all Diane's good leads today, I hope you'll go by to my Writer's Digest 101 Best Website blog, www.SharingwithWriters.blogspot.comto see the best article of the year, maybe of the last five years, on publishing. It's a mini review plus the link to the article in Time magazine.

  10. I have no interest in football but I LOVE Super Bowl food. Hot wings, beer, nachos... it's worth sitting through a game just to get that stuff.

I really can't appreciate pro football after a childhood spent watching college football games at the Air Force Academy. The cadets would have to run out onto the field, complete in their formal dress uniforms, and do push-ups after certain plays. F-14s would do fly-bys during the half-time show, and a falcon would be released, too. I had such a great time watching those games as a kid. Pro football doesn't compare.

  11. I'm in a football pot so for me the scores are more important than who wins! And, I like your new header design.

  13. Thank you Mike and Jane! I'm happy with the new header, too.

And I think I still have a pair of 3D glasses - came with a roller coaster video!

  14. I love your new header picture. It very much fits your image.
Great job. As for football, I'll go for the Cardinals because I remember they used to be a Chicago team way too many years ago.
