I wrote a series of GIMP-related article/tutorials back in 2001 for the now defunct Pinehead.com, and they ended up getting published on Linux Today, Newsforge, and several other online outfits I've forgotten the names of. The articles went over fairly well as they were geared to newbies and weren't overly technical, and the whole experience gave me a great deal of confidence in my ability with the written word long before it ever occurred to me to write poetry or fictional prose.
