The Insecure Writer's Support Group

It’s time for another edition of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group, hosted by Ninja Captain, Alex J. Cavanaugh.

Today I have several insecurities in regards to writing, promotions, and upcoming events. I have a lot to get done and time is slipping away.

But sometimes it all takes a back seat to real life.

Today, this is my insecurity.

That’s our Big Boy, Spunky. Today he is at the vet because he has a lump on his side that is cancer. The specialist will decide whether to remove it or do radiation treatments.

I posted about it on Facebook and was overwhelmed by the prayers and thoughtful comments. We are praying that Spunky makes a full recovery. He’s our “Lovebug” and my husband’s “Buddy.” He’s only eight, so we hope he’ll be around many more years.

So at the moment, my mind isn’t on writing. Spunky is more important. Sometimes when we get caught up in this writing gig, we need to remember that real life matters more.

One thing I can do today is help a friend promote a special sale on his book:

“…delivers on the promise of its predecessor, combining military action sequences and political intrigue with strong, memorable characters. Reminiscent of the action-driven stories of Robert A. Heinlein's early fiction…” - Library Journal

Alex J. Cavanaugh’s CassaFire just .99 for a limited time!

  1. That doesn't sound good, it's definitely hard to keep your mind on writing with something so big happening in real life. I hope he's going to be okay.

  2. Sending well wishes to you and your furbaby today. You are right, taking care of those that matter comes first. I tend to forget that myself.

  7. Aw, Diane, my heart goes out to you and Spunky. What a cutie she is. My kitty is my best little bud and companion. I love her to pieces, when she is hurt or sick my mind can't focus on writing or anything else, either. Fingers crossed everything will be alright and treatment will go well.

  10. Just snuggle.

It's okay. There will be time for other things at other times.

Kiss that cat for me please!

I love the super kitty position!

    Thinking of you!

  11. Prayers for Spunky! <3 My cat, Rosie, who I've had for about seventeen years is blind and I fear she won't be with me much longer. I can't imagine my life without her. And you're right . . . sometimes life takes a back seat but certain things, like our family and pets, are more important.

  12. The vet just called - they removed all of the tumor and outside of a reaction to one of the drugs (poor baby's face swelled up, but he's better now) Spunky came through great! He'll spend the night at the vet and come hope tomorrow.

You're right, some things in life are more important than writing.

  18. Hooray! Good news they got the tumor. Spunky will soon return to his "spunky" ways. I completely understand how you feel today. Been there with our pets too. Give him a hug from all of us!

  20. It is so hard to lose a pet. Cancer just sucks. My dog, Shelby, was put to sleep last year in May because her cancer came back. I hope that your Spunky beats it good. Our pet friends bring such joy to our lives!

  23. Thoughts and prayers are with Spunky and you. I had a diabetic cat that need 2 shots a day, did that for four years before I had to part with her.
They can do wonderful things these days so hope all goes well for you all.

  24. Hugs to you and Spunky, Diane. I know how that feels. It's so hard.

My childhood cat was a diabetic too. One of my girls had a tumor removed from her leg a few years ago and is all fine.
