Rocko would like to take this moment to remind writers and authors that it's imperative they look at things from all angels!
Not everyone sees the world the way YOU do.
And not every scene is best viewed from a position of 'normal.'
Here's some of Rocko's tips for alternative angles her own furry little words:
Sometimes, WAY back.
Sometimes, you need to get up close.
Occasionally, you need to scruntch down for a better view.
Remember to look down.
And don't forget to look up.
Sometimes you should approach it from the front.
(Not recommended in this case - he's meaner than he looks!)
And sometimes from the rear!
(Doesn't Spunly's butt look big? Giggle.)
And if you go for the hazy approach, be sure to let the reader know your character just dropped acid...
Any questions?
Now, go get me some treats!
Very clever way to illustrate the various perspectives that writers should consider.
ReplyDeleteAnd great pictures, too!

LOL, loved the feline on acid. Had a "flashback" (wink). Good way to illustrate a literary point with the use of photography, Diane!

Thanks, Walt! Figure I need to put my pro photographer skills to use on occasion.
ReplyDeleteAnd Marvin, I usually dump any blurry shots, but that one made me laugh out loud and the words "Spunky on Acid" came to mind. So I had to keep it!
Good tips - and you have some weird cats.
ReplyDeleteRocko is so cute and really very smart. Loved the one of him peeking through the box. A fun lesson this morning. He's a great teacher.

Cats are just such brilliant creatures, aren't they? THOROUGHLY enjoyed this lesson. Frisky and Shadow enjoyed it too. They want to know what acid is though...and I've only spoken to them about catnip...
ReplyDeleteGood point and a great way of making it! Sometimes it's easy to just get caught up in the one angle and forget about all the other ways to look at our story.

That's good, Crystal - because if you don't talk to your cats about catnip, who will?
ReplyDeleteLOL
Your and Rocko's advice and pictures are priceless. Maybe Rocko should co-write a book on story development.
ReplyDeleteThat was an excellent post and so well illustrated. Writing from lots of different angles gives a much wider perspective both for the reader and the writer.

Thanks, everyone!
ReplyDeleteAnd if Rocko wrote a book, it would be "Tales from a Schizophrenic Kitty Mind!"
(She's a little on the crazy side!)
Looking through eyes of others can offer a unique perception that one could not see themselves. Even a cat. Thanks Tocko.

Love this!
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with cats and empty boxes? My dog would only explore a box if there was a dog treat in there, and even then he'd never go at it the way I've seen some cats. I guess the felines just know how to have more fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! Looks like he keeps you on your toes!
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent model, Rocko makes for your post. Nothing like viewing the world through the eyes of a cat to get a whole new perspective.
ReplyDeleteThat would make a great picture book :) Super advice!
ReplyDeleteBetween Rocko, Spunky, Calvin, & Hobbes, I have over 25,000 photos of my cats...
ReplyDelete(I used to do photos for Cat Fancy and others - I'm not really obssessed!)
